6 Things You Can Do to Uplift Your Motivation

Assalamualaikum,

Have you ever feel demotivated due to your stagnant daily routine or constant failure in every attempts? If you do, then you are at the right place!

Sometimes we end up feeling demotivated because of the issue that revolve around us. Be it an issue at work place, at school or even at home. There are things which we cannot escape from and eventually, it makes us feel uneasy, useless and demotivated for the rest of the day, or even months. So when you hit rock bottom, what will you do?

These are six things that you can do to give yourself a sense of motivation back.

1. Do some exercises
I know it is way too common to say that by doing some exercises, one will definitely regain back the energy and motivation. But it is the TRUTH guys. I still remember every time after I'm done with my workout, I will feel motivated to do other things, more focused and less mentally-weary. There are scientific evidences on this. It says exercise can improves oxygen flow to the brain and your heart rate and blood pressure goes down, which decreases your risk for a number of diseases and gives you more energy. Your brain benefits from the added oxygen to help you perform basic tasks easier. Thus indirectly it can give back the sense of motivation into yourself. You should definitely give it a try! But be careful not to overdo yourself. Know your workout limit.

2. Go for a vacation!
This is another way someone can get back his or her motivation. But of course, this one is with some cost. When we have gone through month of idle routine, we tend to feel lethargic and start to lose our focus. We go to the office, do some works, finish it, go back home, and repeat the same routine for five days per week. And for the weekend? Well most of us rather spend all weekend at home. Like so, going for a vacation (or even a short one) can break the monotonous cycle. It diverges you away from that mundane works and give you a new view and perspective in life. YES! a new perspective. Go somewhere fun and do only leisure stuff. If you don't have much budget, just go somewhere near that doesn't cost much, like the river, waterfall or the reserved forest. It will be much better if with your friends. Go out and get lost! (Just kidding. Don't get lost and stay safe!)

3. Write down and set your goals
This one is pretty simple. Just write down what is your aim and paste it on your room's wall or at your working desk. This will set as a reminder for you to work on your goals. No matter how small is your target, just write it down. Considering that we are still in January 2019, why not make a one year goal that you are going to complete. Aims can push yourself to be motivated by focusing your energy into achieving it.

4. Create a new habit (or new hobby)
There are times we feel like nothing interesting about our life. Everything is the same. Same house. Same job. Same old life. But I'm not going to suggest you to move out from your house or find other job (though you can do that if you have the means).  Sometimes you just need to build new habits so that your mind can distract you from thinking on the same routine. If you are not an adventurous type of person, why not you start changing that. Try do some adventurous activities such as rock climbing, hiking, diving or any activities that suit you. If you are a lazy-to-read kind of person, start reading now! Make it a new habit. Your motivation will kicked-in once your mind shifted from the old habits.

5. Do a self-reflection
A self-reflection can help you to think back of all your self-progression from beginning up until now. It brings back the feelings of your old-energetic and insightful kind of person and makes you remember how it feels back then. Look at yourself now and see how much you have change and becoming a better version of yourself. Think back at all those moment that destroy you and how you bring up yourself afterward. Like a phoenix rises from the ashes. From that you will start to feel like getting up again and start working on yourself. The sense of motivation after a self-reflection is something that come from within. I myself will occasionally do some self-reflection to avoid losing myself along the way. It helps me to maintain a positive mind and push all unnecessary feelings away.

6. Stay positive, positive, and positive!
As mandatory thing to say; stay positive no matter what. Of course you will sometimes feel weary and lost your motivation to serve on anything. But at the end of the day, what will you get by letting yourself drown into negativity? It will bring more damage to you if you let pessimistic-thoughts control you. Be positive in every possible way and remember everything that happened, has it reasons. Trust in Allah's (God) plan and with His blessing, everything will be just fine. Just don't let yourself be adverse. Take a deep breath and think positive!

Perhaps all of above are not the best advises, but those were the things that worked for me. I know life can be so hard sometimes and knocked us down multiple times. But we are the one that control our self. We have the will to turn things around. We are capable of changing what we feel inside. It is just a matter of self-will. As Theodore Roosevelt said "Do what you can with what you have, wherever you are."

Until next post, Adios!
